Public Safety
Beaumont is a city that values the safety and well-being of its citizens. We are proud to support our dedicated police and fire departments who work tirelessly to keep our community safe. Together, we can continue to make Beaumont a great place to live, work, and raise a family.
Police
As a community, we owe it to our department to provide them with the best resources possible to keep us safe. It's clear our current police department building is no longer sufficient for their needs, which is why I fully support the effort for a new police station. A centrally located station near our high school would not only benefit our officers but also provide a sense of security for our students and families. I also support our Citizens Academy who's goal is to foster better communication between citizens and police through education.
Fire Department
Our commitment to public safety is unwavering. That's why we're proud to announce the opening of our new fire station #106, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and staffed highly trained professionals. In addition, we've invested in new hook & ladder and fire squad trucks to ensure that our firefighters have the best tools available to protect our community
Homeless
I support our Beaumont Police Department's Homeless Liaison program which is dedicated to providing support to those in need while addressing issues related to petty theft and drug use. By working with both homeless individuals and transients, we aim to create a safer and more secure community for all. With the right tools and resources that I support, we can make a positive impact on the lives of those who are struggling while also promoting a safer environment for everyone.
Proposition 36
I support voting Yes on Prop 36.
A "yes" vote supports making changes to Proposition 47 approved in 2014, including:
-
classifying certain drug offenses as treatment-mandated felonies;
-
increasing penalties for certain drug crimes by increasing sentence lengths and level of crime;
-
requiring courts to warn individuals convicted of distributing illegal drugs of their potential future criminal liability if they distribute deadly drugs like fentanyl, heroin, cocaine, and methamphetamine; and
-
increasing sentences for theft based on the value of the property stolen.
